For 20 years, Doudou et Compagnie has been the comforter specialist: that soft, playful little companion that does young children so much good. A comforter has a protective, reassuring role for babies and supports their well-being and development. It all began in 1999 when Alain Joly, passionate about the world of toys, decided to enter the industry. He teamed up with a friend to create the company Doudou et Compagnie, based in the Val d’Oise. The founders surrounded themselves with equally passionate designers to make the brand one of the largest comforter manufacturers.

The brand’s very first comforter was born almost by chance. After sewing a little plush rabbit head onto her newborn’s muslin, a Doudou et Compagnie employee had, without knowing it, just started a revolution in the world of comforters. It was the birth of the very first unstuffed comforter, in 2000. 21 years later, this comforter design is a must-have for little ones.

How the comforter has evolved over the years

In 2002, Doudou et Compagnie continued its rise, relaunching along the way the Histoire d’Ours brand, founded in 1985. This timeless brand offers traditional teddy bears and fairy-tale animals that delight babies and young children alike. Over the years, the design team grew and many models and concepts suited to babies’ needs were created, including the Doudou Collector and the puppet comforter. These playful accessories have found their way into the lives of many families, to parents’ delight.

Committed to respecting and protecting the environment, Doudou et Compagnie launched a 100% natural line in 2007 through its newborn collection. The brand is also involved in humanitarian work alongside UNICEF with its charity collection. All Doudou et Compagnie products and accessories are available at La Maison du Bébé in Morocco.

About Doudou et Compagnie

Doudou et Compagnie is a French brand of comforters and soft toys, founded in 1999 in the Val d’Oise by Alain Joly together with a friend. Its signature product was born in 2000: a little plush rabbit head sewn onto a muslin, designed by Zora, one of the brand’s designers. The collections later grew to include puppet comforters (2003), the petal-trimmed Doudou Collector (2004) and the Lapin Bonbon collection (2010). The Doudou et Compagnie group also includes Histoire d’Ours, relaunched in 2002, Maïlou Tradition, a Breton soft-toy workshop that joined in 2019, Jolijou, dedicated to rag dolls, and L’Ours Français.

The designs are created by the brand’s designers at its offices in the Val d’Oise and undergo quality checks carried out by in-house teams. Some ranges use organic cotton and a polyester fibre filling made from recycled plastic bottles, certified GRS (Global Recycled Standard). The gift boxes are made from cardboard sourced from FSC-certified forests. The brand also offers the Doudou Tatoo identification service and a Doudou Guarantee, and since 2015 has run charity collections in partnership with UNICEF.
