Cribs and Moses baskets
In the first months, babies often sleep close to their parents. A crib or Moses basket gives them a bed their own size. At La Maison du Bébé you’ll find bedside cribs, Moses baskets and wooden cots, available in Morocco.
Which crib should you choose?
- Bedside crib: it fits against the parents’ bed, with a drop-down or opening side depending on the model. Check the height adjustment and how it attaches to the bed.
- Moses basket: lightweight, a baby Moses basket moves easily from room to room. There are also wicker models on legs, such as the Maria Rose by Pasito a Pasito.
- Wooden cot: a stable option; compare the dimensions and the matching mattress.
What to check before you buy
- Usage limit: maximum age or weight and developmental milestones stated in the instructions.
- Mattress: firm, supplied or in the exact dimensions stated, with no gaps at the sides.
- Stability: wheels with brakes, secure attachment for a bedside crib.
- Ventilation and care: breathable sides, removable and washable cover.
- Footprint: measure the space next to your bed.
For safe sleep, lay baby on their back, on a firm mattress, with no pillow, duvet or cot bumper, and respect the age stated by the manufacturer. A Moses basket should be used under adult supervision.
Brands available: Bébé Confort (Zina, Amara), Maxi-Cosi (Tori), Pasito a Pasito, Bimbidreams, Babymoov and Sunshine. See also our full sleep range.
Frequently asked questions
Baby crib or Moses basket: which should you choose?
A lightweight Moses basket moves around the house; a crib, more stable, stays by your bed. A bedside crib also keeps baby within arm’s reach at night, on their own sleep surface.
How long can you use a crib?
Up to the age or weight limit stated by the manufacturer, or earlier if the instructions say so, for example when baby starts to pull themselves up.
How do you set up a bedside crib?
Attach it to the parents’ bed with the system provided, align both mattresses in height and check there is no gap between them.
