Baby car seats

En savoir plus

A baby car seat is chosen according to your child’s height and weight, then your car: a rear-facing infant carrier from birth, a multi-stage or rotating seat for several years, a booster for older children. Choose one approved to R129 (i-Size), keep your baby rear-facing for as long as possible and prefer ISOFIX if your car has it: it greatly reduces fitting mistakes.

The range brings together infant carriers, multi-stage and rotating seats in stock from Maxi-Cosi, Bébé Confort, Jovikids, Chicco, Be Cool and Heyner, to compare at our showroom in Maârif, Casablanca.

Which baby car seat should you choose?

  • Group 0+ infant carrier: a small portable seat fitted rear-facing, with or without a base. For the first months, from the drive home from the maternity ward.
  • Group 0+/1/2 multi-stage car seat: a single seat from birth over several years, rear-facing then forward-facing according to the instructions. To avoid buying another seat after the infant carrier.
  • 360° rotating car seat: the seat swivels towards the door so you can sit and buckle your child without twisting, a real comfort every day.
  • Group 2/3 car seat and booster seat: they position the vehicle seat belt correctly on an older child. For children who have outgrown their harnessed seat.

What to check before you buy

  • The standard: an R129 (i-Size) seat gives a height range in centimetres (for example 40-87 cm for an infant carrier, 100-150 cm for a booster), an older R44/04 seat a weight group; compare with your child’s current measurements.
  • Fitting: ISOFIX, 3-point seat belt or both; check your car’s anchor points and the manufacturer’s compatibility list.
  • Direction of fitting: rear-facing or forward-facing according to the instructions, and never a rear-facing seat in front of an active front airbag.
  • Protection: 5-point harness, side impact protection and a height-adjustable headrest.
  • Size: measure the back seat, especially for a rotating seat or two seats side by side.
  • Comfort: recline, breathable fabrics and a removable, washable cover, a real plus in summer.

Good to know in Morocco

  • Cars without ISOFIX: many older cars have no ISOFIX points. Look for two metal anchor bars between the seat cushion and the backrest; otherwise, choose a seat that can also be fitted with the 3-point belt.
  • Sun and heat: if the car was parked in the sun, cover the seat and touch the harness buckles before putting your child in: they can be scorching.
  • Approval label: the R129 or i-Size marking appears on the seat’s orange label; check it, especially on a second-hand or borrowed seat.

Frequently asked questions

When should a baby start using a car seat?

From the very first journey, on the way home from the maternity ward, in an infant carrier or a seat approved from birth. Practise fitting it in your car before the birth.

Until what age should a baby travel rear-facing?

The R129 standard requires rear-facing travel until at least 15 months. Extend it for as long as the seat allows: the instructions give the height limit in that position.

Do I need a car with ISOFIX?

Not always: many seats can also be fitted with the 3-point seat belt, others are ISOFIX only. Each product page states the fitting method.

What is the difference between an infant carrier and a car seat?

An infant carrier is a portable group 0+ seat that you take out of the car and can clip onto a compatible stroller. A standard car seat stays fixed in the vehicle and lasts longer.

When should I move up to the next seat?

When your child reaches the height or weight limit given by the manufacturer: age alone is not enough. Then move to the seat suited to their size, without skipping a stage.
