As soon as your baby starts crawling, your home becomes a playground for exploring. A few simple safety products prevent everyday accidents: falls on the stairs, fingers in drawers, electrical sockets, table corners. Here is our room-by-room checklist, with equipment available in Morocco, at our Casablanca showroom and delivered across Morocco.

The essentials at a glance

  • Go round the house on all fours, at your baby’s height.
  • Stairs: a gate at the top and at the bottom.
  • Kitchen and bathroom: cupboards locked, cleaning products and medicines out of reach.
  • Living room: socket covers, corner guards, stable furniture.
  • No equipment replaces adult supervision.

When should you babyproof your home?

Ideally before your baby starts moving around: they go very quickly from the play mat to crawling, then to standing up by holding on to furniture. Installing the equipment in advance gives you time to check the fittings and get used to the gates and door stoppers.

The room-by-room checklist

Stairs and doorways

  • One gate at the top and one at the bottom of every staircase.
  • Measure the exact width of the opening and choose the gate to match, or add an extension from the same brand.
  • At the top of the stairs, follow the instructions strictly: many models require a screw fitting.
  • A self-closing gate (auto-close) means you never forget to shut it.

  • Small objects: anything that could be swallowed stays up high.

Kitchen

  • Drawer locks on accessible drawers and cupboards.
  • A multi-purpose lock on the fridge, the oven or a handleless cupboard.
  • Cleaning products stored up high, in their original packaging.
  • Saucepan handles turned towards the inside of the hob.

Bathroom

  • Medicines and cosmetics stored up high, ideally locked away.
  • Never leave your baby alone in the bath, not even for a few seconds.
  • Check the water temperature before bath time (see our bath guide).

Bedroom

  • For sleep, your baby is laid on their back, on a firm mattress that fits the cot, with no pillow or soft objects around them.
  • When moving to a big bed, a bed rail keeps them safe during the night.
  • A baby monitor lets you hear your baby from another room (see our baby monitor guide).
  • Don’t place any furniture they could climb on under a window.

Frequently asked questions

At what age should you babyproof your home?

Before your baby starts crawling or moving around: that way the equipment is already in place and checked.

Pressure-fit or screw-fit gate at the top of the stairs?

Follow the manufacturer’s instructions: many gates require a screw fitting at the top of the stairs. Pressure fitting is mainly suited to doorways and hallways.

Which safety products should you buy first?

Stair gates, socket covers and cupboard locks for the kitchen and bathroom, then corner guards and a bed rail when the time comes.
