Musical toys
Tapping a drum, blowing into a flute, singing into a microphone: music is first discovered through play. A children's musical instrument encourages them to listen, follow a rhythm and express themselves. At La Maison du Bébé you'll find musical toys for babies and older children, available in Morocco.
Which children's musical instrument should you choose?
- Percussion: drums, the WinFun Super Star drum kit, a xylophone; easy to get to grips with, they are ideal for first attempts.
- Wind instrument: the Quercetti sax-flute, for playing first notes by blowing.
- Guitar and microphone: the Kids Melody electronic guitar or a microphone for singing, with a variety of sounds depending on the model.
- First musical toys: Eurekakids Baby Orchestra, drums and the Tiny Love wooden musical puzzle for the very young.
Useful things to check before you buy
- The age stated by the manufacturer: follow it, especially for small accessories and drumsticks.
- Volume: for an electronic toy, check on the product page whether there is a volume control or an on/off switch.
- Power: check the type of batteries and whether they are included.
- Size: an instrument suited to a child's hands is easier to play.
Brands available: Tiny Love, Eurekakids, Hape, Quercetti, WinFun and Kids Melody. See also all our creative play toys.
Frequently asked questions
At what age should you give a first instrument?
There are musical toys for the very young and more elaborate instruments for older children. Go by the age stated on each product.
Electronic or acoustic musical toy?
An acoustic instrument, such as a drum or a xylophone, responds directly to the child's movement. An electronic model offers a variety of sounds and melodies, but runs on batteries.
