Bath and changing
The baby bath and changing department brings together everything you use every day: baby baths and bath accessories, changing area essentials, grooming kits, potties and toilet seats, and a few care products for mum. To prepare for the first bath, follow our guide to baby baths and bath time.
Advice from the Maârif showroom team
How do you choose your child’s bath and changing equipment?
- Start with the space available: in a bathroom with only a shower, a foldable baby bath or one on legs saves you from bending over the shower tray.
- Respect the stated age and weight: every baby bath, bath hammock, potty or toilet seat shows its limits on its product sheet. The Badabulle ergonomic bath hammock, for example, is used from 0 to 6 months.
- Keep the changing area together: changing mat or changing table, diapers, wipes and bin all in one place.
- Have a grooming kit ready: round-tipped scissors or nail clippers, brush, thermometer and nasal aspirator.
- Choose easy-care materials: plastics that rinse clean, machine-washable textiles.
- Think ahead: a convertible baby bath lasts longer (from birth to 3 years for the Babymoov Aqua Dots, according to its product sheet), followed by the potty, the toilet seat and the step stool.

Good to know
Safety: never alone in the water or on the changing table
Get the towel, diaper and clothes ready before you start, then always keep one hand on your child. Check the water with a thermometer: 37 °C maximum, as our bath guide reminds you. Bath hammocks and bath seats do not replace an adult’s presence. If you have any doubt about their skin or nose, ask your paediatrician.

Frequently asked questions
What do you need for a newborn’s bath and changing?
A baby bath suited to their age, a bath thermometer, two hooded bath towels, a changing mat, diapers and wipes, and a kit with a brush and round-tipped scissors. Our newborn essentials page has the complete list.
Changing table or just a changing mat?
In a small bedroom, a changing mat placed on a stable chest of drawers is enough. A table like the Bébé Confort Daisy changing table (87 cm high surface, built-in shelf) keeps everything in one place.
Potty or toilet seat: which to start with?
A potty, on the floor, reassures little ones; a toilet seat fits on the grown-up toilet. Many families start with the potty, then move on to the toilet seat with a step stool.
