Baby carriers

En savoir plus

A baby carrier is chosen according to your child’s age and weight, the position it gives them and your comfort as the wearer: an ergonomic model seats baby in an “M” position, knees higher than the bottom, and a multi-position model offers several carrying positions as the months go by. In every case, keep baby’s face visible and clear, and respect the age and weight limits in the instructions.

Our range brings together the ergonomic Myamaki from Chicco and Physionest from Bébé Confort, as well as Bébé Confort’s 4-position GO4. Try them at our Maârif showroom in Casablanca, or have them delivered anywhere in Morocco.

Which baby carrier should you choose?

  • Ergonomic baby carrier: a structured model with buckles and straps, designed to respect baby’s natural position: wide seat, supported back. It suits parents who want to carry from the first months, if the model allows it.
  • Multi-position baby carrier: it offers several positions that change with age, for example facing you and then, depending on the model, facing out or on your back. It suits parents who want a single model for a long period.
  • Baby wrap: a long strip of fabric that you tie, very adjustable. It suits parents who are ready to learn the knots.

What to check before you buy

  • Age and weight range: from when the model can be used, with or without a newborn insert, and up to what weight.
  • Baby’s position: a wide seat from one knee pit to the other, knees level with the bottom or higher, back well supported.
  • Head support: a headrest or adjustable hood is useful as long as baby cannot hold their head up alone.
  • Wearer comfort: padded shoulder straps, a waist belt that shifts part of the weight onto the hips, adjustments that suit both parents.
  • Permitted positions: facing in, facing out, on the hip or on the back: check in the instructions which ones are allowed and from what age.

Good to know in Morocco

  • Medinas, stairs and crowded pavements: in narrow streets, souks or a building without a lift, a baby carrier goes where a stroller struggles. For long outings, keep a stroller as well.
  • Summer heat: carried against you, baby also gets your body heat. Dress them more lightly, protect their head from the sun, take breaks in the shade and check often that they are not too hot.
  • Try at the showroom: come together to adjust the straps and belt for each wearer, with baby if possible.

Frequently asked questions

From what age can you use a baby carrier?

Follow the age and weight given by the manufacturer: some models, such as the Myamaki, are listed from birth. As long as baby cannot hold their head up, pay particular attention to head support. For a premature or unwell baby, ask your doctor first.

How do you check that baby is positioned correctly?

Their face must stay visible and clear, chin off the chest, with at least a finger’s width under it. Baby is carried high, close enough for you to kiss the top of their head, snug against you, back supported and thighs in an “M”.

When can baby face outwards?

Only when baby holds their head up well, and if the instructions for your model include this position. Respect the age and weight stated.

Baby carrier or baby wrap: which should you choose?

A structured carrier goes on quickly thanks to its buckles and adjusts easily from one wearer to another. A wrap adjusts very precisely but means learning the knots. The safety rules are the same: baby high, snug, face visible.
