Bath time

En savoir plus

Baby bath accessories make bath time safer and simpler: a bath hammock or bath mattress to support a newborn, a non-slip mat, a hooded towel to dry them, a shampoo visor and toys. Our bath guide explains which ones are useful at each age.

Advice from the Maârif showroom team

How do you choose bath accessories?

  • Age: the Badabulle ergonomic bath hammock is used from 0 to 6 months, the shampoo visor from 6 months and the step stool from 18 months, according to the product sheets.
  • Maximum weight: the Doomoo Easy Bath floating bath mattress holds up to 8 kg and measures 40 x 60 cm.
  • Support: a cocoon shape for the hammock, lying and then sitting positions for the Comfy Bath cushion, which fills with water.
  • Grip: in the big bath, a mat with suction cups stops your child from slipping.
  • Care: covers washable at 30 °C (hammock, Easy Bath), suction-cup nets to drain toys.
  • Checking the water: a bath thermometer or a mat with a temperature indicator.

In our houses and flats, bathrooms and showers are almost always tiled, and wet tiles are slippery: put a non-slip mat in the bath, and at the basin choose a step stool with a non-slip base rather than an ordinary stool.

Good to know

Hammock, mattress, cushion: they don’t replace your hand

The Badabulle hammock’s product sheet reminds you that constant supervision is still needed, even once your child is settled in it. With the Easy Bath mattress, the head and ears must stay out of the water, and bath oil is not recommended. Respect the age and weight given in each set of instructions, and check the water before putting your child in (37 °C maximum, according to our guide).

Frequently asked questions

Bath hammock, bath seat or bath mattress: what’s the difference?

A hammock is a fabric support with a wraparound shape that keeps a newborn semi-reclined in the baby bath. A bath seat is a seat for the bath. A floating mattress moulds to your child’s body in the big bath. Compare them in the bath seats department.

Can you leave your child alone in a bath seat?

Never. These accessories free your hands for washing, not your attention: stay within arm’s reach throughout the bath.

How should you store bath toys?

In a suction-cup net fixed to the wall, so they drain and dry between baths. Rinse them after use. Nets and organisers are in the bath toy storage department.
